Partners in Mission

Drawn by Love, passionate for justice together

Mission Partnership is a vocation for lay people who share the purpose and values of the Good Shepherd Sisters and collaborate co-responsibly for the flourishing of women, girls, and marginalized communities.

From co-workers and volunteers to lay associates, every partner helps make the Good Shepherd mission far-reaching and vibrant across Karnataka, Kerala, and New Delhi.

What is Mission Partnership-

A vocation shared by sisters and lay partners.

Mission Partnership welcomes co-workers, benefactors, professionals, volunteers, and long-term lay associates who feel drawn to live the congregational charism of merciful love. Partners pray, plan, and evaluate ministries with the sisters so that together we can uphold the dignity and rights of every person.

Across every level, partners receive orientation in our history, spirituality, safeguarding commitments, and justice-focused ministries. They accompany girls in school, train women in livelihoods, support hospital outreach, and advocate for structural change in society.

Level 1 - Co-workers

Teachers, social center staff, administrators, and support teams who work for the mission in our institutions. We gradually immerse them in the Good Shepherd ethos through ongoing orientation.

Professional excellence with openness to Good Shepherd spirituality.

Level 2 - Volunteers

Friends, benefactors, and specialists who work with the mission by sharing skills, mentoring students, supporting events, or sponsoring projects such as scholarships or skill labs.

Regular collaboration rooted in solidarity and advocacy for women and children.

Level 3 - Partners-in-Mission

Lay women and men who work in mission, receive formation in our charism, join prayer circles, and make a personal commitment to co-responsibility for ministries now and into the future.

Lifelong witness to merciful love, justice, and reconciliation in daily life.

Journey

Formation, accompaniment, and shared leadership.

The Commission for Mission Partnership animates gatherings, retreat days, Appreciative Inquiry processes, and mentoring so that partners can deepen their spirituality and leadership. Partners have even joined Province Chapter conversations as observers, reflecting our inclusive approach to governance.

Discern the call

Mission Partnership is a vocation for lay people who feel drawn to the spirit and values of the Congregation and want to build a more just world alongside the sisters.

Formation & accompaniment

The Mission Partnership Commission (Sr. Shalini Podimattam with Jason Furtado, Sr. Valsa Thayyil, Sr. Shantha Shivram, Miss Nirmala, Mrs. Sushma Stevan, Mrs. Rita, and Mr. Hector) offers formation sessions, retreats, and mentoring.

Serve and lead

Partners co-create programs, animate prayer, support governance consultations, and sometimes lead advocacy or livelihood initiatives in their own circles.

These two days have helped us to go forward with vigor and zeal and to work with enthusiasm, contributing and sacrificing for those who are not recognized in society.
